Save Any Pinterest Video Directly to Your iPhone Photos — No App, No Jailbreak
Pinterest’s iPhone app doesn’t include a download button. The “Save” option only pins videos to your boards — it doesn’t put the actual video file on your device. This guide shows you exactly how to get Pinterest videos saved into your iPhone’s Photos app, in their original quality, in under 30 seconds.
Time required: About 30 seconds per video Tools needed: Just Safari or Chrome on your iPhone iOS versions supported: iOS 15, 16, 17, 18, and newer
Quick Method (For Everyone)
Step 1: Find the Pinterest Video and Copy Its Link
Open the Pinterest app on your iPhone (or pinterest.com in Safari). Find the video you want to save. Tap the share icon — it looks like an arrow pointing up out of a box. From the share menu, tap Copy Link. iOS will confirm “Copied” at the top of the screen.
If you don’t see the share icon, tap once on the video to bring up the controls, then look in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Open Pin Video Downloader in Safari
In Safari (or your preferred mobile browser), go to pinvideodownloader.app. You’ll see a paste box and a Download button.
Tap the input box, then tap and hold for about a second to bring up the iOS context menu. Tap Paste to insert the Pinterest URL. Or use the Paste button in our tool’s interface — same result, faster.
Step 3: Tap Download and Save the Video
Click the red Download button. Within 2–4 seconds, you’ll see a video preview, the original quality, and the duration. Tap the Download Video (MP4) button.
iOS will ask: “This website is trying to download a file. Do you want to allow it?” Tap Allow.
The video downloads to your Files app under Downloads by default.
Step 4: Move the Video to Your Photos App
To save the video into your Photos app:
- Open the Files app on your iPhone
- Go to Browse → On My iPhone → Downloads (or iCloud Drive → Downloads depending on your settings)
- Find the downloaded
.mp4file (usually has a Pinterest title as the filename) - Long-press the file
- Tap Share → tap Save Video
The video now appears in your Photos app, ready to share, edit, or use however you want.
Even Faster Method (One-Tap Save)
If you want the video to go directly to Photos without the Files-to-Photos step, try this trick:
Step 1: Use Safari (not Chrome)
Safari handles iOS file integration better than Chrome on iPhone. For one-tap saving, use Safari specifically.
Step 2: Long-Press the Download Button
Instead of tapping the Download Video (MP4) button normally, tap and hold it for about a second. iOS shows a context menu.
Step 3: Choose “Download Linked File” → Save to Photos
From the context menu, choose Download Linked File. Then look in the URL bar’s download icon (usually appears as a downward arrow). Tap it → tap the downloaded file → tap Share → Save Video.
The video is now in Photos.
Why Use Pin Video Downloader on iPhone?
No app installation required
The App Store’s “Pinterest downloader” apps are usually paid, ad-heavy, or limited. Our tool runs entirely in Safari — nothing to install, nothing to update, no permissions to grant.
Original quality preserved
Most online tools compress videos before delivering them. We pull from Pinterest’s content servers directly. The MP4 you save is the same file Pinterest stores internally.
No watermark added
Some downloader apps add their branding to your saved videos. We don’t. The video file is byte-identical to what Pinterest has.
Works in any iOS browser
Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave — they all work. Safari handles file downloads most smoothly on iOS, but the tool functions identically across browsers.
Privacy-respecting
We don’t log the URLs you submit. We don’t store your downloads. We don’t track what you save.
Common iPhone Download Issues (and Fixes)
“Safari cannot download this file”
Cause: iOS sometimes blocks downloads from non-trusted sites on first attempt.
Fix: Tap the URL bar to make sure you’re on pinvideodownloader.app (not a fake mirror), and try again. If it still fails, switch to Chrome temporarily — Chrome handles MP4 downloads slightly differently.
Downloaded file won’t open in Photos
Cause: The file went to Files but you tried to open it as a Photos item.
Fix: You need to actively move it. Open Files → Downloads → long-press the video → Share → Save Video. iOS doesn’t auto-route MP4 files into Photos.
“Allow downloads” prompt didn’t appear
Cause: You may have previously denied download permission for this site.
Fix: Settings → Safari → Downloads → Allow. Reload the page and try again.
Video downloads but plays without sound
Cause: The original Pinterest video has no audio. Some Pinterest videos are deliberately silent.
Fix: This isn’t a bug with our tool — the source video itself has no audio track.
“This file may be harmful” warning
Cause: iOS is being cautious about unknown file types.
Fix: This is a generic iOS warning, not specific to Pinterest videos. Tap Download to proceed. The file is just an MP4 video; it’s safe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this work on the latest version of iOS?
Yes. We’ve tested with iOS 15, 16, 17, and 18. Apple occasionally tweaks Safari’s download flow, but the core process stays the same. If you encounter a new iOS version where the steps differ slightly, contact us and we’ll update this guide.
Do I need to be on Wi-Fi to download Pinterest videos?
No, mobile data works fine. Just remember that Pinterest videos average 2-8 MB each — if you’re on a limited data plan, frequent downloads add up.
Can I download Pinterest videos to my iPad?
Yes, the same steps work on iPad with Safari. The Files app behavior is identical.
Can I save the video as a Live Photo or animated wallpaper?
Pinterest videos download as standard MP4 files. To use one as a Live Photo or wallpaper, you’d need to convert it using a separate iOS app (search “video to live photo” in the App Store).
Why does the video download to Files instead of Photos?
iOS treats MP4 video files as documents by default, not as photos. Apple’s design choice — not a limitation of our tool. The Files-to-Photos step takes about 5 seconds.
Is this faster than Shortcuts/automation methods?
For one-off downloads, yes — paste, tap, save, done. If you download lots of Pinterest videos daily, an iOS Shortcut could automate the Files-to-Photos step. But for typical use, our tool is the simplest option.
Will it work on older iPhones (iPhone 6, 7, 8)?
Yes. Any iPhone running iOS 12 or newer has the necessary browser features. We’ve tested as far back as iPhone 7 on iOS 15.
Can I download Pinterest videos to send via iMessage?
Yes. Once the video is in Photos, share it through Messages like any other video. The recipient gets the full-quality file (not a heavily compressed iMessage version, depending on their phone settings).
