How to Download Pinterest Videos on PC (Windows) — Free, No Software, 2026

Save Pinterest Videos to Your Windows Computer — Free, No Software, Works in Any Browser

Pinterest’s website doesn’t have a download button. The “Save Pin” option only adds it to your boards — it doesn’t put the actual video file on your hard drive. This guide walks you through the simplest way to download Pinterest videos directly to your Windows PC, in their original quality, in under a minute.

Time required: Under 60 seconds Tools needed: Any modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera) Windows versions supported: Windows 10, Windows 11

Standard Method (Works in Any Browser)

Step 1: Find the Pinterest Video and Copy Its URL

Open Pinterest in your preferred browser (chrome, edge, firefox — any of them). Find the video you want to download. Click the share icon next to the pin — it’s the three-dot menu or arrow icon depending on Pinterest’s current design.

Click Copy Link. Pinterest copies the URL to your clipboard.

Alternative method: right-click directly on the video, select Inspect or View page source, and find the pin URL — but the share button is much faster for most users.

Step 2: Open Pin Video Downloader in a New Tab

Open a new browser tab and go to pinvideodownloader.app. You’ll see a paste field and a Download button.

Click the input field. Press Ctrl+V to paste the Pinterest URL (or right-click → Paste). Or click our tool’s Paste button — same result.

Step 3: Click Download and Save the File

Click the red Download button. Within 2-4 seconds, you’ll see a video preview with the title, original resolution, and duration. Click the Download Video (MP4) button.

Your browser starts the download immediately. By default, the video saves to your Downloads folder (C:\Users\YourName\Downloads). The browser shows a download progress indicator at the bottom of the window.

Step 4: Open the Downloaded Video

Once download completes:

  • Click the downloaded file in your browser’s download bar to play it immediately
  • Or open File Explorer → Downloads folder → double-click the .mp4 file

Windows opens MP4 files in Movies & TV by default. Right-click and choose Open with → Windows Media Player if you prefer that, or use VLC if installed.

Save the Video to a Specific Folder

If you’d rather download to a custom location (Desktop, Documents, an external drive):

Step 1: Right-Click the Download Button

Right-click the Download Video (MP4) button instead of left-clicking.

Step 2: Choose “Save Link As” / “Save Target As”

Select Save link as… (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave) or Save target as… (older browsers).

Step 3: Pick Your Destination

A file save dialog opens. Navigate to the folder where you want the video. You can also rename the file at this point. Click Save.

The video downloads directly to that folder, bypassing the default Downloads location.

Browser-Specific Tips

Chrome / Edge / Brave (Chromium-Based)

These all work identically. The download bar appears at the bottom of the window. To customize the default download folder: Settings → Downloads → Location.

Firefox

Firefox shows downloads in the toolbar’s download icon (top-right). Click it to see your download history. To change default download location: Settings → General → Files and Applications → Downloads.

Opera

Opera works exactly like Chrome. Downloads appear in the sidebar’s downloads section. The default folder location is configurable in Settings → Browser → Downloads.

Internet Explorer / Old Edge

Don’t use these. They’re outdated and have known issues with modern web apps. Switch to a current browser.

Why Use Pin Video Downloader on Windows?

Zero software install

Most “Pinterest downloader” Windows programs are bloated, contain bundled adware, or require admin permissions. Our tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing to install, nothing to update, no risk of bundled junk.

Works on any Windows version

Windows 10, Windows 11 — even older Windows 8 systems. All you need is a modern browser, which is free.

Original quality preserved

We pull directly from Pinterest’s content servers when possible, delivering the original MP4 file. No re-encoding, no quality loss, no compression artifacts.

Doesn’t slow down your PC

Browser-based tools use minimal resources. Compare this to dedicated downloader software that runs background processes 24/7 even when you’re not downloading.

No watermarks ever

The downloaded MP4 is byte-identical to what Pinterest stores. No overlay text, no logo, no “downloaded with X” stamp.

Works on work laptops too

Many companies block installing third-party software on work computers. Browser-based tools work because they don’t require any installation.

Common Windows Download Issues

“This file might harm your computer” warning

Cause: Browser safe-browsing features flag MP4 files from less-known domains.

Fix: Click Keep in the warning bar. The file is a standard MP4 video. The warning is generic, not specific to Pinterest videos.

Download freezes at 99%

Cause: Server connection dropped or browser has too many tabs open consuming bandwidth.

Fix: Cancel the download, close unused tabs, and try again. Usually works on the second attempt.

File saves but won’t open

Cause: Old version of Windows Media Player can’t handle some MP4 sub-formats.

Fix: Install VLC Media Player (free, plays virtually any video format) — videolan.org/vlc.

“Open file – Security warning” popup

Cause: Windows SmartScreen prompts for files downloaded from the internet.

Fix: Click Run or Open. To stop the warning for trusted folders: right-click the file → Properties → check Unblock under General tab.

Can’t find the downloaded file

Cause: Browser may have downloaded to a different folder than expected.

Fix: In your browser, press Ctrl+J to open the Downloads list. Click the file there to see its location, or right-click → “Show in folder.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this work in incognito/private browsing mode?

Yes. The tool functions identically in private windows. Downloads still save to your Downloads folder by default.

Can I download Pinterest videos in 4K?

If the source is 4K, yes. Most Pinterest videos are 720p or 1080p — the quality label in our tool tells you exactly what’s available before you click download. We never upscale or fake higher resolution.

Does the audio download too?

Yes. The MP4 includes the original audio track if the source had one. Some Pinterest videos are silent (no audio at all) — those download as silent MP4s.

Can I edit the video in Windows Movie Maker / Clipchamp / Premiere?

Yes. The MP4 file is in standard H.264 format that all major video editors read natively. Drop it into Clipchamp (free, included with Windows 11), DaVinci Resolve (free), or any pro editor.

Will this slow down my browser?

No. The actual download happens between Pinterest’s servers and your computer — our tool just facilitates the connection. Memory usage during download is minimal.

Can I queue up multiple videos?

Sort of — open multiple browser tabs and paste a different URL into each. They’ll download in parallel. We don’t have a built-in batch downloader because batch downloading often violates platform terms of service.

Why does the URL show a long token instead of a regular Pinterest URL?

If you paste from the address bar of a Pinterest video player, the URL might include tracking parameters. Our tool handles these correctly — we extract the actual pin ID from any valid Pinterest URL format.

Is this safe to use on a work computer?

Yes. The tool is browser-based, doesn’t install anything, and doesn’t transmit any data outside the standard browser-server interaction. Whether you should download Pinterest videos at work is a separate question — check your employer’s policies.
